No mercy for illegal advertisers

To be removed: Sayuthi (right)) looking at the illegal ads nailed onto a tree trunk in Taman Putra Perdana during the operation.

A total of 1,072 summonses were issued for illegal advertisements although only 923 licences for banners and buntings were approved last year in the Sepang municipality.
Sepang Municipal Council president Sayuthi Bakar, who led a team of enforcement officers on an operation on Tuesday to remove illegal buntings and advertisements in Taman Putra Perdana in Puchong and other areas, said the council would hand over a list of telephone numbers to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to be blacklisted.
Most of the illegal advertisements removed were those advertising houses for sale and money-lending services.
All these advertisements were nailed to trees on main roads.
Sayuthi said Taman Putra Perdana was experiencing a spillover effect because it shared a common border with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council which was also fighting a losing battle against this illegal activity despite enforcement staff removing them daily.
“Our aim is to create an awareness on the need to follow proper advertisement guidelines,’’ he said.
He said banners advertising sale of properties topped the list in Taman Putra Perdana as there were several housing developments with many vacant units, followed by advertisements on money-lending services.
“We have noted down the contact details of these banners and the council’s legal department will issue compounds to those that can be traced. Most of these operators work by night, therefore it is difficult to nab the perpetrators,’’ Sayuthi added.
He urged residents to help the council by removing such materials in their neighbourhood

The Wharf - Serviced apartments

Bolton Bhd has unveiled the masterplan for its commercial component, The Wharf, at its fully integrated 345-acre freehold Taman Tasik Prima township in Puchong.
They will feature serviced apartments and terraced residents besides a retail mall and boutique showrooms or offices.
The serviced apartments, which are expected to be launched in February 2011, are expected to have a gross development value (GDV) of RM300 million. The three towers of 29 floors high will have a total of 1,002 units.
Sizes of the units range from 817 sq ft for a two plus one bedroom unit while the three plus one bedroom unit is 1,148 sq ft.
The serviced apartments, which fall under Zone A, will have four podiums and integrated conveniences such as a link bridge connecting it to the retail mall which is expected to be completed by early 2013.
Mindful of the residents’ needs, the developer, Prima Nova Harta Development Sdn Bhd, a member of the Bolton Group, will have external storage room for every floor. Unique outdoor facilities are being planned to take advantage of the fact that Taman Tasik Prima is nestled around a majestic 200-acre lake.
Besides the serviced apartments, there will also be 64 units of terraced residences under the masterplan for The Wharf, which is divided into Zone A and B.
The built-up for the terraced residences range from 1,539 sq ft to 1,893 sq ft. Since the terraced residences also fall under Zone A, access via the serviced apartments should not be a problem.
These residences will also enjoy direct access from the parking in front of their units. They will enjoy full condominium facilities and 24-hour security not to forget the lakeside environment and integrated conveniences.
Upon its completion, The Wharf, spread over 15-acres of leasehold land, is envisioned to be a vibrant one-stop neighbourhood lifestyle-cum business destination.
With a total GDV of RM450 million, The Wharf is marketing first its 32 blocks of three-storey boutique showroom stratified offices known as BizWalk with prices starting from RM2.2 million.
The lot sizes of these offices, which are scheduled for completion in 2013, are 25 ft x 27 ft and 39 ft x 75 ft with maintenance fee at about 25 sen per sq ft.
