One month free toll at Section 2 SKVE














BANTING: Motorists using Section 2 South Klang Valley Expresssway (SKVE) will enjoy one month free toll until June 29 in conjunction with its official opening on Tuesday.Works Minister Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor said the route can indirectly be the catalyst for development of Bandar Saujana Putra, Kebun Baru, Sijangkang, Teluk Panglima Garang, Jenjarom and Banting.
The 12.9km route four-lane dual carriageway with 3.65 metres width for each lane was built with emphasis on quality and security features like traffic monitoring system and 24-hour patrol team.
"I am confident that the quality of facilities available will provide comfort and security to users," said Shaziman when opening Section 2 SKVE at Teluk Panglima Garang toll plaza here Tuesday.
Shaziman's speech was read out by Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Himmat Singh.
The 52km SKVE costing RM1.1bil is constructed under three phases namely Section 1A, 1B, 2 and 3.
SKVE passes via the North South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and the proposed West Coast Highway, beginning at the intersection of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) in Bangi and ends at Pulau Indah ring road.
First phase of the project (Section 1A) was completed in 2000 while Section 1B operate officially on June 29, 2010.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Ismail Md Salleh said Section 2 SKVE cost RM230mil.
"The toll rate is fixed at 14.96sen per km. The final phase or Section 3 is expected to be completed by July next year," he added.
